The Kiwanis Covington County Fair is sponsored by the Kiwanis Covington County Fair Association Inc. and co-sponsored by the Agriculture Center Board/Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.

Registration and Pick-up Schedule

Registration:
Fair building will be open to receive exhibits (except horticulture and livestock) on:

  • Thursday, Oct. 22, from 1 pm until 6 pm
  • Friday, Oct. 23, from 8 am until 6 pm
  • Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 am until 6 pm
  • Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 pm until 6 pm

Horticulture: Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 pm until 5 pm

Livestock: Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 pm until 5 pm;
                   Monday, Oct. 26, from 8 am until 12 pm.

Petting Zoo: Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1 pm until 5 pm
                     Monday, Oct. 26, from 8 am until 12 pm

Pick-up:
Exhibits can be picked up on Monday, Nov. 2, from 8 am until 6 pm and Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 1 pm until 6 pm (No pick-up on Sunday, Nov. 1 due to fair in operation)

Schedule of Events for the 2009 Covington County Fair:

Monday, October 26:
Ribbon Cutting: 5:20 p.m.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Pay one price and ride until closing or buy individual tickets. Special $5 off regular price of $20, sponsored by WAAO radio and Touch of Country Western Outlet.
Entertainment:
6:30 p.m.:
Little Miss Covington County Fair (Ages 6, 7 & 8) $10 entry fee
Exhibit building closes: 10 p.m.

Tuesday, October 27:
10 am-12:30 pm (MIDWAY ONLY) open for handicapped citizens only.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Pay one price of $20 and ride until closing or buy individual tickets
Entertainment:
6:30 p.m.:
Tiny Miss Covington County Fair (Ages 4 & 5) $10 entry fee
Exhibit building closes: 10 p.m.

Wednesday, October 28:
FAMILY NIGHT
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Pay one price of $15 and ride until closing or buy individual tickets
Reduced gate prices: Adults $4, ages 6-12 $2
Entertainment:
6:30 p.m.:
Children's Search for Talent (K-5th grade & 6-8th grade) Trophies awarded 1st - 4th place in each division (Maximum 10 contestants)
Exhibit building closes: 10 p.m.

Thursday, October 29:
SENIOR CITIZEN NIGHT
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Ages 65 and over admission $3
Pay one price of $20 and ride until closing or buy individual tickets
Entertainment:
6:30 p.m.:
Youth Search for Talent (9-12th grade) Trophies awarded 1st - 4th place in each division (Maximum 10 contestants)
Exhibit building closes: 10 p.m.

Friday, October 30:
Gates open at 3 p.m.
Pay one price of $20 and ride until closing or buy individual tickets
Entertainment:
6:30 p.m.:
Fresh Anointing, Gospel music at its best
Exhibit building closes: 10 p.m.

Saturday, October 31:
Gates open at 1 p.m.
Pay one price of $20 and ride until closing or buy individual tickets
Speical for Halloween, ages 12 and under in costume $1 admission after 5 p.m.
Entertainment:
6:30 pm:
Adult Search for Talent contest (Adults age 18 and over) Prize money will be paid 1-4th place.
1st place $100 | 2nd place $75 | 3rd place $50 | 4th place $25
Exhibit building closes: 10 p.m.

Sunday, November 1:
Gates open at 1 p.m.
Pay one price of $15 and ride until closing or buy individual tickets
Entertainment:
3 p.m.: LBW Community College Ensemble
Fair closes: 6 p.m.

Commercial Booth Information:

The Kiwanis Covington County Fair is coming to town October 18 th – 24 th at the Fair Grounds located on the South Bypass Hwy 55, Andalusia, AL. Commercial booth spaces are located within the Commercial Exhibits Building, with electricity and tables available and arranged so that fair attendees will pass your booth twice. Additional space is available in the Covington Arena and outside space between the Arena and Kiwanis Building fenced-in area. In addition to the space in the exhibit building, additional space is available in the arena for larger booths. Booths are for exhibiting merchandise, wares or promotional materials. Exhibitors are expected to adhere to the specifics contained in the Commercial Booth Contract. Please note: A logistic change from previous years is that all passes for entry by exhibitors will be issued through the front gate.

In addition to the space in the Exhibit Building, additional space is available in the Arena for larger booths. Booths are available 8’ X 12’, cost is $165.00, and each additional 12’ booth will be $165.00. Covington County Arena space is available for $1.00/square foot.

Booths are for exhibiting merchandise, wares or promotional materials. Exhibitors are expected to adhere to the specifics contained in the Commercial Booth contract.

Each booth is allowed two workers per shift. The shifts are as follows: Monday – Thursday 5:30 – 7:30pm & 7:30 – 10:00pm, Friday – Saturday 5:00 – 7:30pm & 7:30 – 10:00pm and on Sunday 1:00 – 3:30pm & 3:30 – 6:00pm

This is a very popular event and space fills up quickly. Exhibitors should have their contract for reserved booth space no later than September 27, 2010. Booths will be available for setup starting on Friday, October 15th.

Non-Commercial Booth Information:

The Kiwanis Covington County Fair association provides free booths to any organization, schools, or clubs listed in Divisions 13 through 21. Guidelines are that all exhibits must be non-commercial in nature, cannot sell food or merchandise, in no way solicit donations or promote a for-profit venture. These booths are unattended (except for Kiwanis' presence) during the fair days.

The booths are 10' x 8' in size with back and side curtains furnished. Your booth will be labeled with your name and class.

You may set up your exhibit on Thursday, October 22, 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.; Friday, October 23, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Saturday, October 24, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday October 25, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. You must remove your exhibit on Monday, November 2, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Entering an exhibit in the fair

2009 Fair Rules:

1. Exhibitors will be held responsible for the cleanliness of their booth. All booths must be in readiness before 5:30 p.m. each day during the fair. In case of failure on the part of the exhibitor to keep their space clean and orderly, the fair association may use such means as they deem advisable to enforce this rule.

2. Decorations, signs, cabinets, etc., and the arrangement of the exhibits must conform to the wishes of the association and the local and state fire laws. Side walls of the booths shall not exceed 4 feet in height at the center aisle and they shall not exceed the height of a 45-degree angle from the center aisle to the rear of the booth.

3. Every article on exhibit shall be under control of the association.

A completed REGISTRATION FORM helps speed up registration. You can enter any type of individual exhibit on the same form, including flowers and livestock.

Have the form completed and present it to the registration committee when entering exhibits.

By entering exhibits, exhibitor agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the Kiwanis Covington County Fair.
